How To Cook Quinoa
Quinoa has become a popular ingredient in recent years and is well known for being easy to prepare, high in protein, gluten free and highly versatile. Quinoa is commonly used as the basis for salads, soups, stuffing's, breakfast cereals and puddings or as an alternative to rice, couscous and pasta.
Ingredients• 1 cup JUST GLUTEN FREE Certified Organic Quinoa
• 2 cups Water
• Pinch of Salt
Preparation• Soak the quinoa in cool water for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to loosen any clumps of grains. Strain the quinoa, rinse under running water and drain thoroughly.
• Add the quinoa and water to a sauce pan with a pinch of salt.
• Bring to the boil, reduce heat to low and cook with the lid on for approximately 15 minutes, or until the water is absorbed. (Avoid stirring the quinoa while it is cooking).
• Remove the sauce pan from the heat and let the quinoa sit, with the lid on, for about 5 minutes.
• Gently fluff the quinoa with a fork before serving or adding to your recipe.
